Community Education

Fletcher is committed to the health and well-being of the communities we serve, offering community education events.

Our Community Education Program ensures that lay and ordained individuals serving in churches, non-profits and community organizations have access to relevant continuing education on topics that address their needs.

Each workshop is first offered in the San Antonio metro region, and then in other communities depending on their need. Whenever possible, Fletcher adjunct faculty and staff travel to those communities to deliver the workshop in person. Where necessary, online programs are also possible.

Bringing World Class Training To You

Fletcher’s Community Education program has a variety of workshop offerings that range from 90 minute presentations to all day events. These workshops can be delivered in any setting and our presenters are sought out by regional and national organizations bringing dynamic energy and decades of experience to each training experience. Fletcher partners with churches, hospitals, municipalities, agencies, schools, businesses, and other organizations in offering Community Education programs.

Continuing Education Credits

Many professions require dozens of hours in annual training to maintain certification. Other professions may not have similar requirements but professionals still seek training to acquire new skills and hone existing ones. Fletcher’s Community Education programs meet the standards of CEU’s for many organizations, including major hospital systems and hospice agencies, among other types of organizations.

A Variety of Offerings

The Community Education workshop titles listed below are a sample of our offerings. If you see a workshop that is of interest to you and your organization, we would love to discuss offering the workshop as a service to you and the community. All workshops are open to leaders from the community and to faith organizations in any tradition, lay or ordained.

We must acknowledge and address this grief so our congregations and communities can heal and be made whole. Participants gather with peers to examine and discuss the topic of grief in this interactive workshop. Through discussion, case studies and practical examples participants will gain new insight into grief and what helps in its healing, and will learn evidence-based practice to guide others as they walk through the wilderness of grief toward healing and health.

Christian Nationalism is a threat to both religious freedom and to democracy. Faith leaders are under pressure in many quarters to support political parties and ideologies that often run counter to the Gospel. Participants will explore the historic and modern relations between religion and the state. Religious freedom is the bedrock of a free country, and impacts many aspects of life. Explore various cases and real-world examples where church and state issues come into play, including how faith and education intersect, how churches and 501c3’s can protect their tax exempt status, and historic principles of religious freedom.

This workshop will lead participants through exploring the basics of Bowen Family Systems Theory, and invite discussion around how family systems play into client relationships, goal setting, and team progress. No matter one’s position in an organization, understanding the basics of systems theory can improve the health and functioning of relationships, thereby having a direct impact on performance and service delivery.

This workshop explores change theory in organizational leadership, including exploring the things leaders can (and should expect) when leading change. Participants will learn the difference between technical, adaptive situations and what leadership demands in each.

Participants in this workshop will gain understanding of vast cultural undercurrents that impact every aspect of our lives. It seems like things are changing more rapidly in our world than ever before, and wise leaders will navigate the currents safely and effectively, harnessing the tides for mission and vision moving forward.
